Sixteen-year-old Izzy and eleven-year-old Zoe are sisters. Both of them needed corrective orthodontia. Most people go through their smile-straightening journey alone, but not these two! Izzy shares that her before smile didn’t have room for all of her teeth. Dr. Francis and his team first used their state-of-the-art orthodontic assessment technology to create a targeted plan initially involving braces and spacers to make more space on Izzy’s palate for all of her adult teeth to grow in properly.
Next, she says, Dr. Francis’s customized orthodontic plan moved her to Invisalign trays to straighten her teeth and correct her overbite. She is still in process with her smile journey, but she can already see huge progress in where she is today.
Zoe says that her smile journey was very similar. Just like her sister, she too was born with larger teeth that didn’t fit properly in her mouth or leave enough space for remaining adult teeth to grow in. She also had braces with spacers to first make sure new teeth had room to come in, then to straighten her teeth and bring them together.
One of the reasons that Izzy went from braces to Invisalign was due to her retainer sleeping habits. At night in her sleep, she would frequently push her bottom retainer out of her mouth. This meant that her teeth weren’t receiving the consistent straightening care they needed overnight.
Plus, one time, her retainer ended up going through the dryer! The Decatur Orthodontics team worked with Izzy to assess the issue and determined that Invisalign would be easier for her to manage.
